Default 2002 Z28 camaro LSXvalu??

Hey guys I'm new to the forumn and I been looking for a nice LS1 and man did I come across one today, now just need some info from you guys on value? The car is beautiful and in near perfect condition fully loaded with leather and everything power etc. Automatic tranny now what throws me is the decal package it has, the side stripe that starts on the front fender and goes up the side that's labeled LSX? Is that a special edition? The guy that has it is a nice guy and seems to be pretty knowledgeable about these cars and he says this edition comes stock with around 450hp? Car has 60k miles on it any suggestions as to what it's worth would be great!! Thanks

Nothing stock in a 2002 Z28 came from the factory with 450hp, let alone something with "LSX" decals. 345 hp was the highest rated factory version (Camaro SS, Trans Am WS6, Firehawk). You could go higher to 380 hp with the aftermarket GMMG modified cars. And they had additional higher selections at 435 hp and 475 hp. Sound like your car is an owner modified 450 hp....maybe an LSX crate engine that replaced the original LS1...installed by a specialty shop that as their "special edition." You'll find a lot of similar up-graded cars for sale on here, ebay, and auto trader. Modified cars are not the quickest sellers unless priced to the bone.

Fwiw, many of these cars left today are in "beautiful" condition, even at 100K miles. Most come loaded, fully powered, often with leather. Without knowing more details on your car, I can only say that in pure stock factory form, a Z28 A4 with 60K miles is probably worth around $8K-$10K. A tastefully modified car that wasn't beat on could be worth another $2K-$3K. But more than likely it's closer to what a stock version is worth. My gut feel says the owner is asking in the $13K-$15K range.

Need to know if it has upgraded rear end, trans, suspension. It should if it's really 450 hp as the trans and rear would have taken a beating by now. Quality tires in good shape? How many owners? Color? TTops or hard top? And for 60K miles there have to be numerous flaws in the car's cosmetics. It's hard enough to find 10K mile cars that are nearly "flawless."

Hey thanks for the fast reply! The car looks close to stick but that's just it the interior and exterior is perfect other than a small crack in the dash. Tires are new on the car t-tops look good and doesn't leak . There are no rock chips or scratches either....I will check with him and see if there are any mods.

It sounds like you need to spend a few days here and read the numerous posts on this LS1Tech site about our wonderful cars, especially the yellow 'stickies' found in each section. Knowledge is power, and prevents yourself from getting hurt financially. Learning from this seller who says the car came 'stock' with 450 HP isn't going to help you one bit. I would avoid him at this point.

I am sorry as not to offend or laugh at your naiveness but I chuckled pretty hardily when I read this. Now the question is was the seller either:

a. Gullible enough that the guy he bought the car off of told him the same story and he never did his homework to verify so he is just passing the story along

or

b. Trying to take advantage of a young?? and uninformed buyer by creating an elaborate ploy based of a striping package lol....

No matter though as it is good that you made the decision to research before purchasing instead of after. Although this forum seems to be in my opinion slowly losing its pace (it seems like their is no where near as many active members as of late), their is a wealth of information on 4th Gen Camaros here that you could spend years researching. (Google is your friend use it instead of the search function on this site but at the end of your google search description type LS1Tech that will get you to threads from this site).
