Default 2002 Trans Am, 80k miles, 1 owner

Hi guys, just double checking Kelley Blue Book. I have a 2002 TA with t tops, black, 6 speed with Hurst shifter option, 80k miles on it, in the Chicagoland area. It's a regular TA, not a WS6. I have WS6 wheels on it but still have the originals, chrome is peeling on the original wheels. I'd say good condition, no bodywork and everything works. Antenna doesn't quite go all the way down. Typical wear and tear for the age. It's all stock except a skip shift eliminator and I replaced the rear speakers with Kee Audio. It's been an extra car for me for most of the time I have owned it, getting little use in the past few years. I am the original owner. Kbb says $9500 but some of the prices on LS1tech indicate that is probably high.

What do you think? Just curious, I need to clear room in the garage and want to post it on LS1tech soon. Thanks!

Well it seems like non-WS6 cars have been a bit tougher sell recently, and same goes with convertibles. Your car is a 6-speed and black so that should greatly help though!

Personally I'd say KBB is on the high side as you said, and my opinion would be closer to $7000-7500. I'm curious at to what others think, but right now the market just isn't going too well for the verts!

The one thing that is not so easy to find are nice running 6 speeds with mid to higher miles and no modifications....sound like yours. If it's a sweet running and looking car with a tight 6 speed I could see $8K-$9K. I get $9900 when I run it through KBB private party sale in "good" condition...I included selections for TTops and CD. KBB gives NO extra $$ for 1 owner or a 6 speed. And those are real differences. Figure an extra $500-$1000 for a well kept, 1 owner car. The 6 speed deserves a $1K min premium over the automatic. So I wouldn't automatically rule out the $9900 value as too high. A 4 owner automatic would certainly be way high at $9900.

$7500-$8500 is probably the sweet spot....doesn't mean you can't ask $9750 and see what happens. Winter season approaches which makes things much more difficult. Value-wise, a 6 speed Trans Am is not much different than a 6 speed SS. The Pontiac brings a nice premium vs. the Chevy. I sort of think that a 6 speed has to be pretty beat or have well over 100K miles to be worth under $7K. IL, IN, OH, PA, MI seems to be a fairly strong region for these cars.

Do a search through the LS1Tech car classified section looking for any 2001/2002 Firebirds with LS-1, manual, under 100K miles, under $10K. Also check autotrader.com and Ebay present and completed listings over the past 90 days. You should get some good info. While you're at it, check the wanted to buy section on this site. Seems to me that a lot of people are looking for under $10K Trans Am or WS6 six speeds....and more than willing to spend $8K to $10K for a quality ride. I would note that there have been some sharp, modified Firebird M6's sold here around $8K with 90K miles. Those tended to have a couple $thousands in fresh upgrades, especially brakes, suspension, bolt on engine components.
