Default 1997 white trans am ws6

A guy near my house is selling his white 97 ws6 for $7900. The body is in very good shape, very few flaws, 80k miles. Pretty much stock. Leather is in decent shape, the back seat needs to be replaced and the dash is cracked. Auto transmission. I've always wanted a white 97 trans am but I think he's way high on the price. Not to mention I think I hear a exhaust leak at the header. Researching the price for this car has made he realize that the LS cars are far more desirable. Personally I prefer the 97 body style over 98-02 but apparently the lt1 doesn't compare to the ls1. Is this guy asking way too much? Should I offer him 6500, and should I be targeting an LS car because they're far superior?

i think 6500 is fair for that car in good condition. i paid 3800$ for a 95 firehawk with 102k last fall. but it had its flaws.
if you plan on modding it i would rather prefer an ls1.

Without knowing enough about the car (can't understand why the backseat needs replacement as most are barely used). I also agree that $6,500 is more than enough money for an LT1 car with those miles. I would offer $6,000 with cash in hand as long as you are happy with everything. You can negotiate from there.
Good luck if you go for it.

$7900 is crazy high....The ones that actually sell are between $5 and $7k your offer at $6500 is probably right in the median range but I would suggest you could probably get it or one similar for closer to $6000...shop the market as there are plenty of them out there that have been sitting a while as these cars are not a hot ticket item.
