Nitto 555r's vs winter weather?
Here is the lowdown. I need 2 rear tires, but winter is coming up. The Z is my DD and I work like 3 miles from where I live. Has anybody attempted to drive in snow with Nitto's? I know in this kinda car vs ice, your kinda screwed any way you go.....so I could always call in "sick" or take a vacation day or 2.
Would you tempt it or should I just suck it up and pick up 2 all season Z rated radials for now?
The other option is to have my woman take me to work I guess, but I don't want to rely on her much because of her random work schedule.

I had them on my car for spring and summer ... by the time the temps started dipping into the 40's they were slick even on dry pavement. Don't even think of driving them in snow or ice.
Just suck it up and get a pair of BFG G-force SS/AS for the rear. You won't regret it. You'll be surprised how much traction they have in all conditions.

Can it be done? Yes. Would I reccomend...NO. A friend of mine ran 315 Nitto DR's on his mustang in the snow. Basically all he accomplished was wearing them out REALLY fast. Why put drag radials on in winter when they don't work worth a **** anyway. Normal all seasons get better traction in cold weather.
I ran a Falken 512 all seasons. P275/40R17. I ran these tires for 35-40,000 miles in snow, rain, hot, cold, etc. My car made 412rwhp, and would dead hook from a first gear roll when it was halfway warm out. For the price, you can't go wrong with them.

THE 555r's in the snow are death! i got stuck in my driveway while all of the roads were clear. You are looking at about 6/32 tread depth brand new on an soft tire not meant for the winter. Once you get any type of wear on them forget about it. I have driven my car in the snow before when i had diffrent tires on and it sucked. With these it scared the absolute **** out of me. Nitto is making 315 35 17 555's now i would go with them.
