SS DNA, I understand where you are coming from. You Camaro guys don't have the wider fenders like Firebird's do. I had 17x10.5 TTM's on my Bird and they sat flush and looked great, but a buddy of mine has them on his Camaro and they DO stick out further than mine did. Just like EVERYONE swears that a 15x10 with a 6.5BS won't fit but they looked great on my car.
It's all about preference. Yes if I bought 17x11's I would run 315's on them. But thats what I like and you may not like the same.
Oh and BTW, almost all 275/40R17's are good up to a 11" wide rim.

But....they don't stick out past the fender....
I do have a dual adjustable UMI panhard bar though, so that helped lining things up.
