Default C5 Y2k question

Does anyone know if an 18X9.5 rear C5 Y2K(thin spoke) wheel would fit on the front of a camaro? If not, would an 8mm spacer and longer studs work? Or is the spacer and studs on the front wheels an unsafe idea? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I have the OEM wheels front and rear. If you run the 18x9.5's in the rear as well, you will need a spacer or BFH. I am running a 1.25" adapter in the rear and the car looks like it has 11" wide wheels on it and it looks great. In front, if you are talking about OEM rear wheels, you will need a spacer as mine would rub with the rears on the front (I was just checking fitment for future purposes). I'll be honest though, I love the 17's in the front and 18's in the back. It gives the car a great stance.

Hey Sweet, where is it that you have to modify for it not to rub in the rear? I've got staggered Y2k's and under normal driving it's fine but if I take a quick sharp turn I can hear it rub but can't figure out where. I already bent the inner wheel well a bit in the front of the wheel closest to the door(If you understand where I'm talking about)

you should be able to see where the undercoating is missing from being rubbed off. do the BFH mod there.

I just put on the wheel adapter because I am really not a fan of beating my inner fender in with a BFH. I bought 1.25" because I did the math and it is still a little bit further in than a 50mm offset 17x11 ZR1 wheel. How wide are your wheels and what is the offset? I'll figure it out for ya and tell ya what would be your best option. I have done way too much research into this. lol

So out of the people that answered, how many have used a 18X9.5 GM OEM C5 wheel up front or a wheel with the same exact offset? I have the staggered 17/18, but I wanted to put GM OEM 18X9.5s all the way around so I would be able to rotate them when I get new tires. I already have an 8mm spacer and longer studs in the rear and it works with no rub at all. The car is lowered 1.5. Basically I need to know if the rear Y2k 18X9.5 offset will work on the front of a camaro as is, or if it needs longer studs and/or a spacer like the rear. Thanks

You will need a spacer. I put my rears on the front and they barely rub on the A-arm and inner fender for me. I would say longer studs and a 1/2" spacer would give it a nice stance.

Did you actually bolt them on or just put the wheel on the studs? It rubbed with no spacer at all right?

Yes I bolted them on. I turned the wheel side to side and it just rubs on my car. Technically, here is what you can do. You can run a +38mm to a +56mm wheel on the front at 9.5 inches wide. Now, OEM rears are +65mm. You need to make up 9mm so that is .354 inches you need to move the wheel out at a minimum. You might be able to get a 3/8" spacer, but I would go 1/2". IMO, further out makes these things stand out.

Sweet, my fronts are 17 x 81/2 with a +58 offset and the rears are 18 x 91/2 with a +65 offset. It's fine unless I really push it then you can hear it rubbing somewhere. Alot of the undercoating was already flakeing off before hand so I can't exactly use that method.

Those are the OEM offset. I have not put spacers on the front of mine, but I am going to. You are hearing rubbing from the rear and that is what I was experiencing before the wheel adapters. The fronts are a narrower rim, so the 2mm does not affect it as much because there is less inner wheel. The 58mm are close to rubbing on the front though. I am planning for a 1/4 inch spacer. It will really make the wheels clear better and make it have a more aggressive stance. If you install a 1/4" spacer, that reduces the offset by almost 6.5mm and that will make the wheels look a lot better too.
