new weld R/T street strip wheels clear brakes not sure if its a repost or not but http://video.lsxtv.com/video_detail.php?mId=7761 from PRI called a couple ppl today and said 15's will fit with NO mods...

I was told these will be in the low $400 range each plus the rear rims will require some massaging of brake mounts and or calipers. It does not sound like we have a true street, bolt on solution yet, but getting closer.
I would pay this price if there were no modification required. I will let others be the guinea pig and see how it goes.

They could have picked another name other then "RT" wheel. We have our Bogart Prostars ...then Weld uses the name "prostar". We have RT series wheels...now they have them too? Geesh.
Not knocking the wheels, it sounds like nice wheels. Funny how someone sais that at a low 400.00 price range per wheel, someone would be happy to hear that price when we have had a working solution for many years and sells at the ~400.00 range no modifications needed.
Did anyone catch the SFI blurb...funny how we have the same scenerio setup.
Just typing out loud, so back to the discussion. No need to argue here.

I would pay that if it is truely a wheel that can be used for the street. SJM not to knock your Bogarts but at 400 each and not for street use is a little pricey. I love the wheels and as I said before if they are truely a dual purpose wheel then the price is fair. I think that maybe you should make a line of Bogarts that can be run on the street then we all can just buy Bogarts and quit waiting for the next best thing.

The Weld RT Series is truly a wheel that can be used on the street per SAE requirements. It's basically a race wheel built to withstand the rigors of street use. This new line was conceived around the LS1 fitment.

We do and have so for year, but I don't push them as they are heavy just like the others. When someone spends over 1000.00 for set of 15" wheels. I have trouble justifying the cost when there is much less expensive street/strip wheels out there like the summit wheels for less then half the cost. Since they are similar weighted, there is little benefit to them aside from appearance.
For now, I'll leave those 15" street type of wheels to other manufactures if they prefer to push them.

SJM Just to be clear I wasn't calling you out, I didn't know that Bogart had a wheel that was for street duty. Are all of the bogart wheels available in a street strip configuration? If so i will be contacting you after the holidays. Thanks and sorry for any confussion.

Yes we do, I really don't care for them though as like others, the fronts are not a direct fit and the backspace setting really isn't as good as it should be. They are also very heavy like the others (in comparison to a drag wheel). I've never listed them as an option on the site, that's all.
They can be built in any of the non-bolted version that you see on the website. There is a few pictures of them on mustangs and F-bodies in the gallery. Pricing would be right in line as with other similar 2 piece designed wheels...so expect typically over 1000.00 per set...this is why I recommend when going to 15's to consider drag wheel configurations (what I feel 15's are really meant for anyways). Weight advantages will shine in comparison...and cost being not being much different.
Its sad to say, but those inexpensive summit/jegs street/strip wheels will not offer great measurable differences...BUT cost a heck of a lot less then a typical billet street/strip configuration.

Just to be VERY clear, the 15x10 rears with 7.5" backspacing did fit some LS1 applications with no grinding, but, some required slight contouring of the mounting bracket ears and caliper raised area (fins?). I can only attribute this to inconsistencies in the brackets and calipers, having worked for Chevrolet Division in the past I can believe that their might be some.......variance. The 15x4 fronts required no grinding or spacers.
From the tests we did subject it to, we can project that these wheels would pass the SFI test, but, as Steve says, there is really no point in actually gaining SFI certification for a wheel like this.

As you suggested, there are differences from car/car. Floating calipers don't help. Using aftermarket pads and rotors exacerbate the problem. Seems everyone now is coming out with new designs. I hope the economy gets better. Good luck with the new designs.

Steve, I believe we beat you to the ProStar name by a few years, the RT Series was to emphasize the ability to drive them on "Road and Track". If you have been around the wheel business for a few years, you know that there is very rarely anything totally new.

396, we launched these "officially" at the PRI Show 2 weeks ago. Motorstate/Lane Automotive got a jump on these and has the AlumiStar 3 in stock (cause we have been shipping them to them like crazy), call them for pricing (if your speed shop has an account with Weld call 1-800-788-9353) for dealer pricing.
