Cool Mini tub time

Ok guys and girls here we go for my first post.
I have a 1984 transam that i have rebuilt from the croung up. I have nothing on the car that is not new pretty much. Well a while back my friend bought me some corvette wheels 18's. 8.5 in front and 10.5's in the rear (thanks 00vert-z) well i purchased the tires for them and i went with 315-30-18 bfg g force drag radials. Well in order to get this to fit on my car i had to use 2" spacers all the way around. I do not have a issue with the front but in the rear the spacers make the tires stick out about 3/8". So what i have decided to do is a mini tub. I looked on the web for information on this and did not find muck with the information needed to do it yourself. so i decided to take a week off of work and grow some ***** and jump on it. I have started on the pass. side of the car and cut out the old wheel well at the seam and all the way back to the flat backing plate. the issued with these cars is the section where the seatbelt is bolted to and the section where the bump stop is. these two areas is wht the car needs to be tubbed. i cut the bump stop off and this gave me another 3/4" to 1" at that point and getting rid of the seatbelt frame will give me another 2"+ at that point. i have been taking pictures and writing notes on everything i have done and plan to post everything here. if you have any questions or feedback on this project please reply. if you want to be a dick and just give me hell find somewhere else to reply thanks

Ok guys i have ran a little behind due to my wifes grandfather passing away. This took two days from the time off to get the tubs done. I got out to the shop today and made the template, cut out the sheet metal and spot welded the pass. side tub in place. Unfortunatly I blew out a welding tip so I need to go get another. I am getting ready to go to the track to watch test and tune night now , but I will get back on the mini tubs in the morning. I should have the pass. side done before tomorow night. I will start posting pics when I get done with this side

chevboy28 what is the backspacing on your wheel you used? before i decided to mini tub i was using a 2" billet spacer and this barely cleared in back and it also made the tire stick out about 1/4 to 1/2" on each side. the wheels i am using are 18"x10.5" with a 8" back spacing you must only be running about 5 1/2"-6" backspacing. if so this is why a bfh worked on your car. if it is more than that i have no idea why it worked. but with over 600.00 worth of g-force t/a drag radials in the rear i did not want them to rub anymore. the rubbing is what caused my transmission to go out because of the bind on the back wheels when i hit a uneven surface.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am a few hours away from finishing the drivers side i have taken a good many pics of this but not as many as the passangers side. I will post them within the next few days. Also i undercoated the passanger side today to finish it off. It realy makes it look complete.
If any of you are interested in doing this and have questions about how or where to get materials let me know i will try my best to get you the information needed.
