Lost "key" to wheels
Lost "key" to wheels The special socket for the theft deterrent lugnuts - yeah - cant find it - It came with the car, it's got ZR1s factory style - would the socket have came with the car from the factory or is it aftermarket add on?
Probably an after market add on from the previous owner. The same thing happened to me so I went to advanced auto parts and found a matching one. If anything you can go to a local wheel/tire shop like a goodyear and they can strip it off for you.
No I don't believe they would damage the wheel at all man. Someone told me they have a tool for that. I think it will be fine. As far as finding a match I found it easily, but maybe i just got lucky that the previous owner bought them at advanced. Go look at least. Take a picture of the lock and try to find a match thats what I did.
you dont need a tool, just tap a 5/8 socket on top. then go to any parts store and buy a new locking set of lugs. I prefer Les Schwab becuase they use gorilla. They supply a sticker so that if you ever lose it again, you call the number on the sticker and give them the number off the sticker and they mail you a new one specific to the kits you originally purchased.

Buddy's got a tool, I had the same thing happen, the lug was fine, but you need the key to put it back on lol, so if you can in my opp get the tool required. Takes 3 seconds on the impact.
my dad has a set of wheel lock removers for f-body's and corvettes. i had to use it to get my wheel locks off. i was pretty annoyed when i went to put in new brake pads and found out that i couldn't get the wheels off. the backs didn't have em.
all it is is a socket with no teeth in the middle. it's just round. you put it on an impact wrench and spin it til it heats up. then as it cools it contracts and grips the lock, then you just loosen it.

Maybe you could weld another nut to the end of it and draw it out that way? I guess there would be the risk of getting some junk on the wheels.

I temporarily misplaced my key and just pounded a socket onto the locking lug, was 19mm I think, and it didn't take an incredible amount of force to get it to stick enough to get the lugs off. After removing a lug I heated up the socket a little to get the lugs out of it and the lugs are still good to go (and although the socket looks a little rough it is still 100% useable)
