How well do these tire grip the road on dry and wet conditions? I've read reviews that the sidewalls bubble up or something, is this true? I might pick up a brand new set of these for around $800 including shipping. Any other recommendations for around this price range? Looking for tires that could be used in dry and wet conditions.

I've got them and to be honest I've been running them for over a year, no problems. They're not by any means exceptional in heavy rain (don't stomp the gas in a turn!) but they're good in every other condition I've encountered.

Can you guys tell me about your experiences in the rain? How well do they grip? Do they hydroplane often?
After reading a story about a guy on this site hydroplaning at 65mph on the freeway and totaling his car, I really want to make sure I am getting some good tires.

i have the same size hrtz ll's and had similar results. they are quite hard so they dont hook well but i got 30,000 miles out of them. like stated before makes for alot of smiles. but be easy on it in the rain or you'll be kissin a guard rail.

Does anyone have any pictures of their tire mounted on their car? I've searched around and only found the HTRZ II. Perferably 275/35/18 or 285/35/18. If possible, with the wheel turned so I can see the tread.

The 1 and 2 HTR series in a 315 were awful for traction. I could spin them easily at 35 if I tried. They are hard and slid in turns easily. They did last awhile though.
I gave up on them and spent the money on some falkens. The nittos are generally pretty well thought of too.

Sumitomo HTRZ
Crappy cheap tire. Really Cheap in a 315. Doesnt even have a rim protector.

Sumitomo HTRZ II
Little bit better than the first one, but they still arent that good. They are cheap thought. Although a good friend of mine ran them and said at the track when you get a little heat in them they hook okay for a street tire

Sumitomo HTRZ III
Pretty damn good tire. Especially for the money. They hook better than the IIs and they carry a 300 treadwear and compared to a 200 for the IIs. SO they should last 50% longer than the IIs.

Dont believe that they are a decent tire? Check out tire racks test comparing them to the Bridgestone re050as.
