Default anyone else having trouble hooking up?

i was at the track last night and was very disapointed with my 60 foot times.
1.9 all night long i should be in the 1.7's with my cam and 9" rear

i am running 250-50-16 bfg drag radials
i'm making over 373 torque am i over powering these tires and would running a 275-40-17 drag radial make a difference? or do i need to run slicks?

Hmm check again on tire pressure and make sure you do a proper burnout. You should easily be able to hook up your current power on them I would think. Guys are pretty much dead hooking et street radials with that power level at our track. Are they worn out or something?

Yeah I have a hard time hooking every time. My best is a 12.81 @111.8 with a 2.032 60'. I was spinning in 1st and 2nd gears when I got this time. I'm on BFG's G-Force 275/40/17 street radials. I do a good burnout everytime as well. I can only launch at 1400 RPM's with this current set up because of not hooking. So no your not alone.

you are probably hurting your traction more than helping it by doing a long burnout on street tires. A very very short burnout to clean off the tire is all you need. If the tires get too hot, which is what a long burnout with do, you will actually start to lose traction on a street radial.

Well maybe time to get some et streets radials and sell of those BFG drag radials. All our local cars hook great with the et street radials..I would check recommended air from other guys running them or bfg directly. You didn't mention if these were old and simply worn out. Buddy used to run some old bfg that he got cheap but they were pretty much done for. He switched to new et streets and his car hooks like it should now.
I am going to run et street radials or m and h street radials this season I think. Both are great tires and get the job done. You should be able to dead hook 400rwhp easily on et street radials or m and h street radials. Nittos are not as sticky but work pretty good at those power levels on the street.

yeah i think it might be time to upgrade to 17x9's instead of the 16x8's and et streets sound like a good way to go i just think my tires can't handle a dead hook anymore
i was just looking to see if anyone else was having trouble like i was

I started out doing long burnouts, but wised up and started to shorten them up early on. That's how I got the 12.8 run. The tires I have are for the street, not for strip. I have a rear in the works and am not gonna spend anymore on tires until it's done. Plus I have drag wheels to put on at the track when I'm done with the rear, and have the longer studs on the axles.

ok i will try going to m/t but i would think that if i was running a 275 vs a 255 that there would be some difference. once these tires wear out i'll buy some sticker tires maybe some slicks or something thanks guys

the 17 is heavier than the 16's more rotating mass thats why the fast cars go with 15's and get some adjustable front shocks to transfer the weight to the back i didnt see them listed in your mods

Mickey Thompson tech support point blank told me their DR's on a relatively high HP M6 LSX car are a compromise. The guy told me if you have them and want to run them, only do a minor burn out so that they are not heated to over 20-25 degrees over the ambient surface track temperature. More than that and they become "plastic".
