Time to replace the Potenzas...suggestions?
Potenza S-03 265/40/17
Potenza S-02 275/40/17
Pilot Sport 275/40/17
Pilot MXX3 275/40/17
I like the S-03 but am disappointed that they've not introduced a wider size, and I didn't care for the Pilot Sport at all. The others are discontinued.
I'm looking for a max-performance summer tire with good wet performance as well. I don't consider the BFG KD to fall into that category. Has to be Y-rated.
I can't find pricing on the Nitto 555RII. How does the 555RII compare to the BFG KD, or G1DS3, or Ecsta MX?
Other suggestions?
I had the RE730s, got 32,000 solid miles out of them. They had begun to hydroplane tha last 5k mi. and were down to the indicators.!
I haven't seen any reviews which rank the regular Potenza's above the S-02/S-03 Pole Positions...?
Tire Rack said that the MX's are as stiff as the S-03's but much noisier and wouldn't work as well in auto-x nor the rain. Also that the 10mm diff between the contact patches is basically insignificant.
They obviously had no comment on Nitto's since they don't carry them, but said that the G1-DS3 was the closest tire to the S-03 at this time. But heck, I'm only saving $30/tire. I wonder if the weight is similar.
Guess I'm leaning towards buying the S-03's again barring further comments.
