tire width?
I would NEVER put a 295 or a 315 on such a small rim. Defeats the purpose, is not recommended, and in short dangerous.
295 require a 10" rim minimum and a 315 requires a 11".

I had 315 drag radials on my 17x9 SS and they were fine they stuck out a little past the rim. So just a question whats wrong with a wide tire on the back because i could understand your reason for the front but not the back?
Cramming a 12" wide tire onto a 9" wide wheel forces the sidewalls and corners into an undesigned shape and can cause a premature failure - and flying down the expressway and have a tire prematurely fail is not my cut of tea.
Can I remind you of Ford Explorer and Firestone? A perfect example of "forcing" a tire to do something it isn't designed for.
Like I said your car, your life.
