Exclamation how the hell are you supposed to get traction!?

I mean I don't even have a cam yet, and I spin the tires past 4500 in first and spin bad shifting into second...on a nice sunny day! I have lower control arms, relocation brackets, and a torque arm, what else can I do. I realize that my tires aren't the best but I just don't see Nittos making all the difference. And even if I was limited to my tires, say I get the Nittos and that solves the problem, what happens when I get H/C later on, I just don't understand how I can keep my power to the ground without going for a full drag setup (slicks).

So like the title says...how the hell are you supposed to get traction!?

Yea this is the reason why I think my times are pretty decent for my setup and track condition. I ran my car with the chrome 18's, tires with 10,000+ miles on them and on a humid poorly preped track day. Ran 13.1 with a Vig 3200, 18s, and dropped 2 inches . I definatly need to get some spare 16's with nitto's or ET's for when I race. I barely have any traction at the track if I launch.

feather the gas and clutch, don't just mat it..u'll never get traction that way. find a RPM point where ur car does not spin (probably 2,500) , slip the clutch and go. if u pop the clutch and floor it u will spin.

Ya but I am spinning at the end of first after 4500rpms, after the car has already gained traction. And you can't feather the clutch when shifting into second.

I would recommend DR's.....

They suck for high speed runs but help tremendously for traction. Beware though if you are an M6 don't do too many hard launches because you can snap the rear end that way. I never that DR's could hurt the rear end but they are pretty stick and can do some damage if you launch on them hard enough.

Just ask GhostSS from AZFBA!!

Brian-

My car does the exact same thing as yours. I picked up a set of Nittos with hopes of at least getting my 60' down to around 2.0. I could only run a best of 2.27 during a few trips to the track. But like PNY said, I will be scared of my rear end..oh well!

I never had too much luck with nittos as far as traction goes, but they were ok as street tires.

Default Try This

You said you have a torque arm.If you will play with the pinion angle you will notice a difference. If you can spend an extra 30.00 go buy an air bag for the right rear tire.I promise with a little practice on some launches at 1500-1800 rpm from a stop light using nittos and the above suggestions you will see a difference.GOOD LUCK!

I have the Edelbrock tq arm and with stock lower control arms I have -1 deg pinion angle. with my Lakewood lca's I have -3 deg which is perfect. check it before you buy another one.
