well it also depends on your suspention if its stock or got some upgrades.
my car has every thing aftermarket in the rear and on 270 40 17's it almost dead hooks and they get stickyer as they wear down.

i was at the track today and my friens has a 02 ss camaro m6 with a turbo and he said its around 600-700 hp and he was runing some 305 35 18 nittos and he actualy sheared off his arp studs from his moser then the wheels took off the track lol.

i like my nittos but im going to try the new toyo tq's next mickeys wear way to fast for the steet and its not like your going to constantly going through the gears so i say nittos or the tq's

As far as I am concerned the Hoosiers are flat out "Superman Tires" at the track. I have cut consistant 1.40s. I have the 315x35x17. However they just dont last long at all on the street. They have two narrow grooves in them to make them dot legal but in any kind of wettness its like your on ice.

Toyo Proxes TQ's are the best compromise between Nitto's, and MT's period. They hook well, and do bad *** in the rain. For any DD that wants to hook, Toyo's are the tire for you.

Here is my review on them. https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...tq-review.html

I don't think I could be more happy with a tire unless they pleasured me.

I Stall it up to bout 2400-2500 and just flat foot it on the bottle..LOL! Pretty much hooks every time. Hav pulled the 275x40x17 fronts on many occasions.
Now running skinny's. Trust me, they do wrinkle!! Somehow it just works for me! I do have full suspension which really helps it hook too.

My guess is the 285/40-18 is for the Shelby GT-500.

I have nittos on a basic bolt on car. They fit my application perfectly. I was looking for a performing street tire that also lasted longer than the competition. They hook on the street for what I need and have lasted and are just getting broken in at 5k miles.
