On tire rack nothing in a 255/16 would come up in a 40 or 45, smallest sidewall was 50?
I'm curious as going from 17x9.5 Z06 wheels back to 16x8 salad shooters I lost around 10 lbs. off of each corner. I would like to go to a 255 tire over the 235 tires on there now. I'm also told the later 5 spokes are even lighter than the salad shooters, although I have no idea by how much. In the process I lost the 275/40 tires, like I said on my salad shooters they are good year t/a's in a 235/55 I think. I gained in quality of tire though as I took off worn down Riken Raptors.

You can run a 255/40/16 just fine on a 16x8" stock wheel. I've done that before without issues. It'll just add a bit of overall diameter to each tire. 275/40/17 or 245/50/16 (stock sizes) are 25.66" tall, vs 26.1" tall for the 255/40/16.

Actually a 255/40/16 is only 24.03". Now a 255/50/16 would be 26.03".

I'm thinking you meant the 50 series.

Good catch! I've been looking at/posting about wheels and tires in various places all day, and the numbers are starting to blur.

I did indeed mean 255/50/16 above.

Why dont you do a 235s up front and 295s in rear. Give it a mean offset. I have 215s up front, and 295s. Great tires, BF Goodrich all around.

one thing to consider is that some big floppy sidewalls have more give and can fit but don't fit well and the tire often operates poorly, i have crappy 255 60 15s on my truck on a 7 inch rim and apparently nitto 555r's fit on my 17x8.5 volks... food for thought
