Default IDEAL offset/backspacing for 17x11???

I am about ready to order new inner and outer hoops for my FM5's to make them 11's in the rear. Well since Fikse went under, I am getting them from Forgeline. I want to make sure the offset and BS is perfect.

What would be the perfect offset and backspacing for a 1996 Formula?

Since you already have the wheels, you could measure where they sit on *your* car and go from there. Case in point, I've read anywhere from 36-50mm is good, but with an effective 50mm offset on my 11" wide wheels, my tires are flush with the outer fender. Any more and they'd stick out...

7.75" Backspacing from what I have seen is about the best on 17x11 with a stock rear.

That's pretty much the magic number. You can do deeper, more inner clearance will be needed...and the dishing obviously will be smaller, so there are trade-offs.
