Default 275 or 285 tires

Buying some new wheels this summer, thinking of getting 18 x 9.5 rims with 285/35/18 nitto 555 DRs. Noticed a lot of people on here who run 285 in back have 275 up front, am i gonna have clearance issues running 285 up front? Want to keep all the tires the same for rotation.

if it's a daily driver, i wouldn't even worry about going to a 285 width tire, the difference between 275 and 285 is negligible, and will only throw your speedometer off.

either go 315 out back, or stay with 275, IMO

285 is almost 2in of more grip on a corner, and almost 1in off the line!
Almost .5 per tire, depends on the tire maker... and they fit nice and still can lower it some, safely!

which, for a daily driver, means pretty much jack ****.

if you're investing into a set of really sticky tires for launching at the drag strip, or for using in auto-x/road race, where the speedometer doesn't matter, then go for it.

but for a daily driver that rarely/never sees any of those events, i'd rather not have to spend extra money on tuning the car for the new tire height to make my speedometer accurate again (well, as accurate as it can be, anyway).

and for those occasions, it's function over form....just buy a second set of wider wheels with some race rubber on them for those special occasions, and roll around on standard sizes the rest of the time on the wheels that look good.
