Question Which Tire for the long Haul

Here's my dilemma:

In May I'll be traveling from Central IL to Atl, GA (1,238 miles each way) in my car with a bunch of other Trans Am's to Year One then down the east coast for the following week. Different car meuseams and tracks. At least 2 Drag strips. My question is do you think it's wise to travel that distance and back on M/T ET Streets or just stick with street tires?

I will be taking full advantage of the tracks and with the new stall I can light the street tires up from a dead stop all the way up to 50mph. The ET Streets that I've got have about 2k miles on them on stock 17" Speedlines. I've also got a pair of S-Drives (9/32) and a pair of F1's (4/32) on sets of Speedlines as well.

Thanks for your help.

That's a long drive (2476 miles) on drag radials, IMO go on street tires.

Just run the drag radials. I've run both Nitto and M/T dr's when I was daily driving my T/A and had zero issues. Just have to use some common sense in heavy rain.

I've driven on my M/T on several 600 plus round trips and am actually plan on driving on them for the Power Tour long haul come June.

I'm not to concerned about breaking. I've got a fully built MWC Fab 9", PST driveshaft, and a fresh FLT Stage IV tranny w/ New SS3600 stall. Only thing left is the motor. Getting a spot on tune done for both NA and Nitrous.

Last time I went on Street tires and it would blow the tires all the way into 3rd gear @ the track on a slipping tranny. I dropped them down to 18psi and started to get better traction. No where as good as the ET Streets.

There was one car that was running BFG DR's and he was 4hrs behind us at one point do to only being about to do 45mph in the rain.

That's what I would do. When I went on a road trip to a drag strip 300 miles away I just threw my drag wheels and tires in the back seat and swapped them on at the track.
BTW I drove from St. Louis to Atlanta and it was only about 600 miles for me, maybe a little over. I drove through southern IL to get to Kentucky. Where in IL are you? Way up north near Wisconsin?

I'm about 35 miles north of Peoria in a small town called Lacon 61540. I'm not just driving to Atlanta, I'll be there on the 15th of May but then when I head home I'll be at Disney World from there home is about 1200 miles. I'm packing for a week, tools that may be needed, and other odds and ends. Extra tires and rims just won't be an option. So I'm thinking just go on the street tires. It'll save me on gas in the long run.
