Nitto NT555 or Kumho Ecsta XS? 315/35/17
I have had nothing but drag radials on my previous car..from the Nittos, to BFG, MT, Hoosiers...Building a new more streetable car this time around and I dont realy want to do the drag radial thing with this car. Have any of you tried out both the NT555 and the Excsta XS and liked one better? Looks like both are pretty popular for the non drag radial crowd, and the Excsta XS will wear out faster because of its softer compound. Any advice? Or if you can suggest a different tire in the 315/35/17 that would be cool as well. Oh yea..The GS-D3's are way out of my budget lol.

I just bought a set of the Nittos. I did a ton of research and found overwhelmingly positive reviews of them.
They're not installed yet, I just ordered them yesterday, but as soon as I do I'll post up my initial impressions.

well whatever you do DO NOT GET SUMITOMOS unless you plan on getting new tires in less than a year. trust me there is a reason they are 100 bucks a pop. so if you dont want a drag radial the nittos will probably be your best bet the only problem with the nittos is that they will get very hard after a while. Other than that they are great tires but like i said if you like to get traction you will end up replacing them before there time is up. now im sure other people like them a lot but after seeing hundreds and hundreds of them after they have been driven on for a while you will not like them unless you like rock hard tires. but maybe that just my personal experience.

you say after seeing hundreds and hundreds of them after they have been driven on for awhile......do you work for a Nitto dealer? The reason I am asking is I am considering getting Nittos too. My origional goodyears were like that, after 2 years they were hard and had plenty of tread but no traction at all. My 2nd set, still on the car are bfg kdws's. they worked better than the goodyears but got pretty hard also.
Thanks for any input you can give.

I run Nitto 555s all around on my wifes car. 275/40 fronts, and 315/35 rears.. Ive been running them on a couple different vehicles for quite a while, and am damn happy with them. I also compared the 555 to the 555R and size wise, the 555 is about an inch WIDER than the DR.
