How do you change the front wheel bearings in a 2003 monte carlo?

Default How do you change the front wheel bearings in a 2003 monte carlo?

ANS:

You have to replace the entire hub assembly, the wheel bearings are inside of it.

Jack up car, remove tire, remove brake caliper and rotor, remove hub nut on cv axle, remove bottom ball joint nut(use pickle fork tool to remove ball joint from hub), tap cv shaft loose of hub, unbolt strut from hub, unplug abs wire, and replace hub assembly. Reverse steps to reassemble.

You made that a lot more work than it needed to be and pickle forks are a no no.

All you needed to do was remove brake caliper, bracket and rotor. Take spindle nut loose drive axle back a little and then remove the 3 bolts that hold the wheel bearing hub in. Oh and unhook abs sensor. No need to remove spindle.

There easy to do, I can change one in 10-15 mins with the right tools
