I think you could easily go 1" to 1.5" wider with maybe a 285/40 or the Nitto 315 drag radial since they run small. You will have to roll the lips for sure on a lowered car. If you go 2" wider you'll have to get busy with the BFH & lip mods, they would be pretty close to the 11" zr1 dimensions. I've noticed that most of the cars with 11" wheels aren't lowered that much. Im actually planning the same as you, I've ordered another set in 18" to clear the CTS-V brakes I'm installing but I'm only going to widen them to 10.5.

so do u think if i got them widened and did some bfh and rolled the lip, they would install properly? what would u say the distance is from the inner fender to the outer edge of the wheel is?

Hey:

Approx 13.4" edge to edge taking in consideration tire flex, rolled lips and BFH.

Offset adj LCAs may be needed for that width, also with an adj panhard bar, to get it square and minimize rubbing.

Tire height and wheel offset may come into play as well.

Eyeballing it I'd say around two inches. I can get under & measure this weekend. You could safely widen an inch for sure.

I am thinking about having my Firehawk wheels widened. A lot of people run 17x11's in the back. How is having a stock wheel widened and using a spacer different than a rim that was 17x11 from the start? Can the offset not be adjusted right?

well from what i was gathering when i was plannin on doing this, was that the backspacing was just as important as the offset. since u are adding to the back of them, the centerline of the rim changes, therefore the offset changes. but the rim will still line up exactly the same as before it was widened. u have to consider how big of a spacer u will need to push out the rim enough to sit flush with the fender so that it will not rub on anything especially the bump stop. but u will definitely have to bfh and probably grind the bumpstops.
