How to fix nasty clear on wheels?

Default How to fix nasty clear on wheels?

how should i go about fixing this? it looks like the clear has been ate away in spots on all my wheels. they are just the stock ws6 wheels but i want them to look good. any info would be helpful.

You can strip the clear coat and polish them up real good. They will look better than new.

how do i go about getting the clear off? like what sandpaper grit?

so the aircraft cleaner wont eat at the aluminum finish underneath?

Yea that def needs to be stripped. When I had my Trailblazer SS a lot of the OEM wheels that saw time in the snow and stuff got destroyed. Most people just stripped off the clear and polished the wheels.

The only downside to polished wheels is its a huuuuge pain to keep em looking nice.

you can strip them, polish them, then have them powdered clear. Or have them blasted and powdercoated any color you want.

To get rid of the flaky appearance on the wheel now you have to strip the clear off. I personally wouldnt even reclear them. It will be a pain to keep them clean but with a nice polish job they will shine like chrome.
