Default 18x8.5 wheel, tire size? And height matching or smaller than 315/30?

I've got my 315 bad boys on the back, and am about to buy some tires for the front. I want the front to be either equal or lower profile than the 315/30.

A) what size tire goes on a 18x8.5(I do NOT under any circumstances want a tire that is even slightly too small or equal to the wheel size.. I hate that look. The slightest slightest buldge(to protect the rim a bit in the least) would be ideal.

B) if I get a 255/35/18, would that be about the same sidewall height as a 315/30 or what would?

Also, I've heard it's bad to mix soft compound tires with normal tires, especially at high speeds. My rear tires are Nitto NT01 which are a softer compound. If I mix them with a normal street radial will that be okay? The car will be going high speeds.

Well, I think I answered my own question by looking up a tire calculator. Seems that I will need a */35/18 tire if the tire size is between 245-265. So how about the other questions? =D
