Default problem with new wheels and tires

I have 15x10 with the 7 1/2 backspacing - racestar dragstars with mickey thompson drag radials 295/55/15. My driver side wheel hits the caliper a little on 1/4 of the inside of the wheel. Anyone have this problem? Now for the tire, On one side I have about 1/4 inch on the inner fender well before the tire hits, which should be enough clearance. On the passanger side the tire is hitting just a little. Anyone run into this problem? I am thinking about beating the inner fender well a little with a 5lb sledge to give myself a little clearance. I hear people say they run the 315 mickeys which are one inch wider than my tire on a 15x10 with 7 1/2 inch back spacing. Dont see how that is possible. Any insight would be appreciated. I really dont want to buy a mini tub kit and weld it in.

it sounds like you need to center your rear with an ajustable panard bar for more clearance.

even if i centered it, i would have 1/8" on both sides. I still dont see how people run wider tires with the correct offset, it seems impossible. Plus who knows is part of the inner fender well was welded straight from the factory. The look good on the outside.

Sounds like you may have to trim the calipers with an angle grinder and, like you suggested, massage the wheel wells with a sledge.

Called the BFH mod and it's very common, as well as needing to grind the calipers with those wheels. You can gain a good bit of clearance by beating the **** out of your inners, lol.

I honestly believe the racestars have less backspacing than advertised. I've read of another instance where someone went from 15x10 prostars to 15x10 racestars with 7.5 bs and went from having no clearance issues to having tire clearance issues.

And my 15x8s sit further out than 15x8 prostars.

Just fyi my 15x8s fit with no modifications.
