Default 3" narrowed each side MWC Fab 9 help!

Hey guys, I have been doing some searching and have seen many different answers for my question. I am having a MWC Fab 9 built, narrowed 3" per side. To find my backspacing for new wheels, is it accurate enough to say stock backspacing of 7.75" - 3" = 4.75" for new wheel backspacing? Anyone actually do this and can vouch?

Also, what mods need to be done for the new rear? Do the lower control arms need to be modified?

thanks in advance!

Yeah pretty much. My 9" is narrowed 3" per side and I run a 15x10 wheel with 4.5" back spacing. Fits great! Pics here:

The LCA's do not need any modifications, 3" is about the most you can narrow without any suspension changes. You will have to come up with a new method of mounting/retaining the e-brake cables (if you want to keep the e-brake). I cut up the factory brackets and modified them to work.

The general rule of thumb is a stock location 8 inch wheel will have a 5.5 inch backspace. So, a 10 inch wheel will have a 7.5 inch backspace. If you narrow 3" (I just did this to my car and bought wheels), a 10 inch wheel will have 4.5 inches of backspace for the stock location. Since some of your more popular racing wheels (we will take weld for example) have 1" increments on their backspace......most of the 10" guys will run a 5 inch backspace for a 1/2 inch tuck. There a guy on here with a real nice blue camaro that put a 3" chopped M9 in his car with 10" billet specialties that have a 5.5 inch backspace for a 1" tuck and it looks tough. Do a search in the wheels and tires forum for the drag setups.

thanks for the reply!
I will be running 19x11's on the rear, and plan on ordering a 4.75" backspacing.
I see your running a 4.5" backspacing but with a 10" wheel and really wide tires ( 325?)
Does your wheel lip sit flush with the fender or is it sucked in a little?
thanks again

i really want the wheel tire combo to be perfectly flush with the rear quarter panel. I plan on running 19x11 with a 305/30/19 tire. Will a 4.75" backspacing on a 11" wide wheel achieve this?
thanks
