Default Nitto 555 vs 555R vs NT05????

Help I have searched and read a few reviews and was looking for some help on selecting one of these tires. My T/A has 330RWHP and 400RWHP on spray with a 3600 stall converter.

My question is will I be able hook at all on a regular 555 or a NT05 or do I need to stay with the 555R? My tire size is 315/35/17 I am also considering Toyo DR’s……

I have 555R’s now and they hook AWSOME however I would like to get a tire that last a little longer if possible as I daily drive 100 miles a day 3 days a week

Any info is appreciated

Thanks,

DV

i doubt you will find a dr that will last longer than the 555r thats what there know for decent grip and long life.
your not puting down 500 hp so for street grip i say stay with the 555r's but if you really want more life then get the nt05's from what i have read on here they have good grip but remember not strett tire will hook like a dr.
im puting down a little more power than you off the spray but i dont have a converter(mine is stock) and i almost never spin on the steet after mine get a little heat in them from normal driving and i have 275's not 315's

Default Nitto NT555s/R vs NT05s

Hey:

For me I would go with the Nitto NT05s front and rear and just pick up a pair of NT05Rs with a spare rear wheel set for when you hit the track. On my 1 Camaro, I just went from Goodyear F1 GSD3s to NT05s to NT555s all within a few months and wish I could have found the size I wanted for the NT05 as I would have kept them. I liked them much better than the NT555s and as well or better than the GY F1s. Since your on 17" they have the tire size you probably want. For me I changed wheels and tires to get the combo I wanted and went back to NT555s for the second time, but after going to the NT05s I don't like them as well as I did the first time.
I wish they made NT05s in a 315/35x18, As I think they are a very good tire, and would like to use them again.

Good luck on your choice.

Dub

I can guarantee you the Nt-05 is the best hooking of ALL of the drag radials!!!!(WAY BETTER THAN 555R!!!!) I have them on my pullied 03 cobra and c6 z.......They wont even break the tires man...If you wanna hook go nt05r....I drive on them everyday with my cobra...Over a 1,000 miles and a track visit and they are doing great so far........

Thanks guy's! So would it be safe to assume a 315/35 NT05 will grip better then a 555s and last longer then a 555r? How much tread life can you get out of a NT05? I see per nitto's site is has a tread rating of 200 vs the 555R's 100.....

I think I have around 12,000 miles on my current 555r's and they are about gone....

They have a treadwear rating of 200, so they won't last that long.
