Default Oh baby what a difference!

Finally got to test the 17" ET's on some spirited in town driving....and they performed very well on cold streets and basically cold tires. I was trying to fish tail on a couple u turns and damn they held good. Seem very stable on cornering and fast turns. I think the 11" rim helps a bunch. Here are a couple outside pics..... http://community.webshots.com/album/113460107KhpaNl

Man it feels good to drive her again....last time out till WoW
Hell, it is supposed to ice tonite

Nice! I have a spare pair of 17X9 WS6 wheels that I'm using BFG DRs on now, maybe I will switch to the ETs when it's time to replace them. Do they have a 275/285 equivalent size (10-10.5" I guess) for a 9" wheel?

I actually think they would fit better on a 9 or 9.5" rim. I may end up mounting these on some takeoffs when MT comes out with their DR. Oh where does it end?????

A little off topic. It looks like you have a polished Hooker catback. Did you polish yourself or pay to have it done? Thanks.

Has anyone tried these on a stock 9" wheel yet? I'm liking the idea of using them to replace my DRs when the time comes....

PS. BLUEBYU, where did you buy them?

Whooa.....I just bought some 17x11 rims expecting to put these tires on them. Now you're saying I would be better off with my stock rims?!

But...are you saying I could just keep my stockers and return the 17x11s? According to the MT website they say you can go +/- 1 inch on the rim width from the tire width, which for the 17" tire is 11.5". So from their website it looks like they recommend at least a 10.5" rim.

Why do you think they would fit on stock 9" rims?

That is/was my interpretation also. If you look at the specs on the tire for the rim width it indicates 9". Therefore, they could mean no more than 10" rim width.

Ok, turns out they recommend from a 9" rim to a 11" rim. So I guess I could go either way. The question is, will there be any benefit for me getting the larger wheels (17x11) over my stock ones (17x9)? Unfortunately I don't know enough about them to determine.

What are your thoughts?

If the ONLY reason you are buying the new rims is for these tires, then don't, since they will work on your stockers. I don't imagine there being any performance benefit from the wider rim in this case. Save your money or spend it on something else for your car. :-)

Indeed. I sent an email off to the guy I bought them from. I hope they don't stick me with some negative feedback or a huge fee (O.E. Wheel Distributors off of Ebay).

Overall I suppose this is a good thing since I will be saving some money and don't have to deal with the hassle of selling my old rims.

Alright. Mind if I ask what you paid for your tires?

I paid close to $400 shipped. I talked to MT and they do not recommmend a rim over 10". Man, I hate being the guinea pig. I will be selling these tires because it is not in the budget to keep them and mounting them on some takeoffs. If you have not purchased yet, I will sell them for $325 shipped..ouch! I am bummed!
