Just my .02.. I think it looked way better as they were. I will admit I am not a fan of black wheels because they give the illusion of being 1" or more smaller than an equally sized white or bright colored wheel. They look like 12" wheels now. I think you should have sanded them and cleared em to give em a brushed look ! To each his own though, good job on the painting work.

All rust-oleum products, self etching primer, high performance wheel (black) then high performance wheel (clear) 3 coats each.

I would try the heater hose mod in the back first. It seems that would work quite nice for you.
