Default Best Tires?

What i am looking for...are the best possible tires i can get for the price
I want to be able to hook as good as possible..however since i live in the Chicagoland area we get messed up weather....so i want some decent traction in rain...and if i get a surprise snow fall id wanna make it alive...I really wanna get some hooking and not to shabby rain control

Ive heard good things about:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Nitto 555R DR and/or Extremes
BFG KDW
BFG G-force
Pirelli Super Sports-also i believe i dont kno much about many of these.....ive just heard different things all around....people......tell me what you think please

I will be getting new rims for these.....so for mah stock rims which i will race with what should i use for tracks...Nitto 555R DR's?

I ran around with Nitto DRs on the street for a while. They weren't too bad in the rain, but I always took care... The worst thing about them was I got a flat twice (in 8,000 miles). I don't know if it was random or because the tires and much softer, but you do get more gravel/road rash noise from them picking up crap and slinging it into your wheel bays. Tire life wasn't unbearable either, I think I could have coaxed 20,000 miles out of them if I had kept the burnouts to a mimimum.

if you are gonna have a dedicated pair of track wheels get some ET streets or real slicks dont bother with DR's.
As far as those tires you listed they are all fine wet/dry tires but they will suck in the winter. If you need an allseason tire you need look at them not the summer tires you have listed.

I just put the KDWS's on my car yesterday, they hook up pretty good dry and wet so far. The KDW's aren't for snow at all. Being in upstate NY I figured I might need the snow traction riding through the mountains in case of a freak late winter storm or some crap.

I vote for the GS-D3's. They handle great in wet weather and also hook well in dry. I have no complaints about the tires so far.

The dunlop sport 5000 might be a choice to consider. It is an all season tire I personally think is superior to the goodyear. Great on dry pavement, excellent on wet pavement, 1 inch wider and only 150.00 a piece at sears. Never tried them in the snow though. The dunlop treadwear is 220 versus the goodyears 320? , but I was only able to squeeze 20,000 out of the goodyears. I have pulled 25,000 out of the dunlops easily 3 times. Just my .02 though. Hope this helps.

KDW's all the way with out a doubt. I have tested these tires and they out perform any goodyear Ive tested.(Goodyear would have to pay me to put a set of tires on my car after seeing them ware and pick up objects time and time again we call them One years at our tire shop) At my job they send me out every know and then to test tires so we can give our members first hand tire knowlege. Piolt sports will definitly hook the best among street tires w/best wet traction. The KDW's arent as atractive as other tires but they flat out get the job done. MO

I think the "look" of the tire should be considered too. The Goodyears are a little "modern" looking where the KDW is a nice clean traditional block pattern.

"Look" is a BIG consideration for me when picking tires as well. I wanted a certain clean, traditional look (plus of course great performance), and the F1 D3s look way too wild for me. The best compromise between look, performance, price, and everything else for a full street tire is the KDW, IMO. I will keep using them as long as they make 'em.

The F1 GS-D3's or the BFG KDW. I would do either. Keep the Nitto DR's for the track.

Yo.. ryan to wild lookin "A"

I like both the d3's and the kd's. Pros and cons galore- however definately a tough decision. How about a set of each (1 week d3's one week kd's or depending on which set matches my out my outfit), then everyones happy
