Default Which 315/35/17 NITTO???

The car will be a street car only. Maybe a few track passes per year for kicks and giggles but nothing serious considering I don't wanna trash the rear...

I don't do burnouts for anything other than a quick tire clean for a street race.

I will abuse the tires more just taking corners and exits hard probably bc I like to do that sorta thing. I do occasionally whip it sideways but again, it's rare and I'm really pretty nice to a set of tires compared to many.

Basically, I want a tire that is going to last on the street under those conditions. I don't need a slick, but at the same time I don't want a tire that I'll blow off in first and into second either. Most of the time tho, it will be standard driving and Commuting.

Any advice fellas? Like I said, I don't need a crazy good performing tire that will only last me 5k miles. I'd like to get at least 12k out of them.

Please take into consideration the driving style and compare it to your experience... If ur hard on them and do a burnout every 100 miles please don't tell mr the tires wear too fast bc I won't be driving them that way(wish I could afford to tho haha).

Lots of people say the 555r is still the best but there are more options out now so I'd like to hear them. If an NT05 will be close to as good performing but last longer please let me know bc that is how I will make my choice. If I had the money I'd just put ET streets on it and get a new set every couple thousand miles hahaha.

Thanks for any opinions and advice!

What do you have done to the car? Auto or M6?

If auto and bolt-on then 555r is what you just describe NT05r is a GREAT drag racing straight line tire but little over kill but the NT05 is a race course tire(doesn't mean they don't work good drag racing but I'll let someone else tell you about them). Even with a 4k stall converter I hook my suspension just unload's and makes them spin. Pulled a 1.77 60ft with them.

M6 will probably be better with NT05r's but I'm not sure about it because I own an Auto. My friend does have them on his Stalled and cammed TA and he dead hooks with them on with only non adj. LCA. Great tire and they last longer the ET streets, have better wet traction and from what I have heard are a step up over ET streets with dry traction.

the nitto 555r is a good drag radial tire its very street friendly and if you treat them right you will get a decent amount of mileage out of them

Its an M6 and It will be a lid, longtube with true dual x, and a tune. It's an 01 with 59k miles so it already has the ls6 intake. It's lowered a bit as well.

That's all I'm plannin on doing for a good while and I'm hopin that the setup will yield about 335rwhp and get 23mpg or more when I'm easy on it...

Also, will I need a spacer on the rear? I know that the 555r's run thinner than other tires. I know I'll have to do the BFH mod

I don't understand why a lot of people have problems with Nitto's. I've ran 555r's into the low 12's without any traction issues whatsoever, and I'm sure they're good for at least 11's. The NT05r's are even more agressive than the 555r's, so I can't imagine them being "not impressive".

For nitto's lineup it's like this:

555-Directional high speed street tire
555R-Street legal drag radial, primarily for street use.
NT05-Street legal drag radial, more agressive than 555R, but wears faster
NT05R-Most agressive street legal drag radial, wears the fastest, however.

I like the DR's they are not that expensive and you can get good mileage out of them.

IMO the NT05's have way too much of a gap(s) running down the middle of the tire and I feel it's giving up some in the foot print dept.

My main problem is overpowering the tires on the street. I have Hoosier drag radials for the track so my main focus is the street. I am currently having my 16"x8" rear wheels changed over to 17x11" wheels. So for my purpose I am leaning to the Nitto NT05 in the 315/35-17 version. That should be a nice up grade to my BFG 255/50-16 tires.

I had 305 555'r on a hot day id slightly spin first, and chirp 2nd. they were really good for street use.

I daily drove on them, and several times drove on the highway in rain, and never once had a problem.

I think there is some confusion about the NT-05. It is a max peformance summer radial with a 200 treadwear rating compared to 0 treadwear for the 555R and O5R.

That's what I was thnking as well... The NT05 has better tread wear ratings than the 555r.

I'm still unsure lol. I have another car to DD but idk how much I will want to drive it vs the SS haha.

Thanks for all help and opinions guys!
