will tires effect ABS? I have 18's all around and Im getting 285/40/18 for the rear and trying to keep what I got up front(285/30/18) for now. The question is will this effect my ABS since there is such a difference in height. If so what would be a good size tire for the front?
Yes, that will definitely screw up the abs. If you chose to run the 40 series in the rear for those 18's, you have to run a 40 series tire on the front as well.
The front are rears have to be less than an inch apart from each other in overall diameter in order to keep the ABS light off.

The first time I drove my truck after I switched from 30" tires to 33" tires I almost rear-ended someone and actually had to pull off the road to avoid hitting them. I had the brake pedal pushed down as far as I could but I couldnt stop in time, I ended up just taking out the ABS fuse and disabling it

The 40 series doesnt matter. What matters is the overall diameter of the tires(need to be within an inch apart). When they are different sizes you cannot individually calibrate front a rear ABS sensors.
