17" Street Lites - Not Approved For Racing??
I noticed on the Billet Specialties website, their Street Lite catalog says that 15" Street Lites are for street or strip, but the 16 and 17's are for street only. 16 & 17 are SAE J2530 certified, 15's are SFI 15-1 approved. I don't know what those specs mean, nor do I know if run-of-the-mill cast wheels meet either of those specs. But are the 17's safe for a mildly modded fbody drag racing?

Actually, without going too far on a limb, most wheels on the market will pass sfi certs easily...many manufactures including our setups will/have pass certification...many are tested.
To pay for cert stickers for each design is not beneficial to the end user. In the end, the costs would be even higher.
Those certs do not make it a "street wheel" or "strip wheel" nor give any warranty of fitness towards it. It does not make them stronger either. Passing it means that it meets minimum destruction tests which is rather easy to do.
If you're setup requires an SFI sticker than stick with a wheel that includes it. Most race classes do not require it. If they did, more companies would be including it...you'd see wheel pricing go up then too.
