Default 17x11 w/spacer??

I have been looking through alot of pics with 17x11 OE wheels and it looks like the rear wheels are tucked into the car just a touch, or is it just the pics?

I have the wheels ordered and was considering getting a small (1/4" or so) spacer to set them out just a touch.

I have no problem with the BFHing the inners wheel wells and I will be rolling my fender lips, I want the tire to be able to tuck, but also want it to fill out the area.

So spacer or am I just being crazy

I run a 1/4 spacer with longer ARP wheel studs and it will fill out the wheelwell nicely (50mm 17x11 ZR1s). I rolled my fenders and did the BFH mod before I ran the spacers. I also have a double rod ended PHB.

Edit: I have no rubbing.

Any pics? I have a MWC watts link ordered so a centered rear is no big deal anymore. To me some of the pics made it look like the wheels are sunk in a little bit more than they could be.

Thanks for the reply

Anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm going to be ordering spacers this week as soon as they figure out my damn paycheck

Sorry, no pics. My rear ZR1s are flush with the quarter panels. The bodies on the Camaros are wider before the rear wheelwells. If you look straight down from above the rear wheelwell the body gets narrower towards the back bumper. So I think depending on the angle you are looking at the car it may look like the rear wheels are sunk in versus looking like they stick out from the back.

there are several people running the 36mm offset 17x11 ZR1s... think of it like the 50mm version with a 14mm (just over .5") spacer

closest thing i have found on here so far that is on the topic of flushness.
i've got the 17x9.5 10 spokes but want something much more aggressive (18x10/11).
i had 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear on my 240sx and it was superflush.
want to get close to that on my z28. i know its harder with a solid axle and needing more meaty tires, but i hate the sunken wheel look. i would consider spacers but for a 9.5 wheel im better off putting that money towards new wheels.

do we have anything close to a "flush fitment" thread here? off to the search...

Well as soon as my retarded employer deposits my check I'm ordering my spacers and a bunch more parts.

I don't have tires yet, but hopefully in a month or so I'll get those here, have some other stuff on my list first before tires are needed.

Am I understanding this right? A 11" wide wheel with +36 offset will sit flush on the rears?

Yes but you HAVE to have and adjustable PHB, rod ends on both sides is prefered. It fits better on a Firebird but they do fit on camaros too, but if you using a wide tire it might stick out

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...mm-offset.html

keep in mind, the rear fenders of the 'birds stick out just a hair more than the camaros

I have an adj. phb, right now the wheels sit perfectly even on both sides.

Would the same go for any other brand wheel? The wheels I'm looking at have 3.5" lip (11" wide wheel) at +50, if I wanted to make it more flush with a +36, do you know how that would change the lip size? Also, if I go anything under +50, what I'm doing is bringing the wheel out more toward the fender?

Trying to grasp the concept of wheel offsets and widths. Thanks!

I have ZR1 17X11 with the Grand Sport Offset and the tire is flush with the top of the fender with 335x35/17"s, No rolling of the fender lip, No cutting of the bump stop just a little persuading on the inner fender well in the lower front.

36mm would make the lip bigger by about 1/2" but that depends on the wheel brand. 50mm offset puts the wheel closer to the inner wheel well, 36mm offset puts the closer to the outside of the car.

But after seeing the pics of the 36mm offset I'm going with a 1/4" spacer

Thanks alot guys for the replies

Why use spacers when you can get the correct back spacing and then dont have to worry about changing out the studs. Dont quote me but I believe the Grand sport offset was like 54mm. I know I had to look around until I found them..

Wheels are already here, someday when I'm rich and famous I will get custom offset wheels.

But a 54mm offset would put the wheel into the car even farther. If they came out with a wheel with a 45mm offset or so I think it would be about perfect.

Now if I use a 1/4" spacer (6.35mm) that would give me an offset of 43.65, pretty damn close to 44 if you ask me And I think thats a happy middle between the 50mm and the 36mm offset.

But either way I'm ordering the spacers today along with the rest of the parts to complete my rear axle, someday I'll get some pics

The body of these cars just don't look right with a flush fitment, it starts to look donked. The +36mm on the camaro in that link up there ^ sits flush, but looks like its sticking out of the body in every angle. I think +40 to +44 is the best way to go.

Yeah I agree with you there, my car is going to be low and I will be running 315/35s so it needs to tuck into the wheel well but I don't want it 1/2" away from it.
