Summit brand wheels are not a drag wheel setup. They're a knock off to look like a race wheel, while providing none of the benifits of a drag wheel. They're heavy, cheaply made, and don't look nearly as good as the real wheels they portray. If you're just after "the look" then I suppose they're for you. If you're actually looking for a drag wheel to reduce weight, improve sixty foot times and overall ET, that you can safely drive on the street, while remaining lightweight, USA made, SFI certified, and affordable, I'd look into the Weld Racing RTS series wheels.

Fronts retail for around 230 each, and rears around 260 each. Not to mention they come in the correct sizing for 93-02 F bodys and require no brake modifications to fit correctly, where as Summit wheels do not come in the correct backspace (15x10 will stick out in the rear) and I believe you have to do a fair amount of grinding down on your brakes to make them clear LS1 calipars.

The weld RT-S wheels are really sweet but you will pay for them. You get what you pay for. That being said I would advise against the summit wheels. A good alternative is the race star (formerly Greg Weld) wheels. I just picked up a set for under 700 shipped, 15x10x7.5 rear and 15x3.5 fronts. I have not yet installed them but everyone says they will fit with no caliper grinding.

Just north of 200 dollars more and you could've had a set of new RTS wheels. I think that a full set of SFI certified streetable drag wheels for under 1,000 dollars is fairly reasonable. There is a reason Greg Weld/Racestar wheels are priced how they are. They use a "one size fits all" unilug bolt pattern (like 1970s Cragars used) and with that they use a offset washer to center the wheel instead of having the lug nut shank or wheel hub itself center like a true drag wheel should.

I hear ya. I don't think you need ultralights or detailed craftsman wheels for weekend warrior work. For a lot of older model cars I am sure the Summit wheels work just fine. I think the main issue you are going to have is that I beleive the Summit wheels are all 0 offset or close to it. That and they won't clear your calipers is reason why the Summit wheels aren't really an option.
