The thing about the machined face C5's OE sells is they almost look Silver, I dont really see machining marks on them when looking at pics, even close up. But again I havent laid eyes on a set in person yet. Thats why I'm almost thinging the Silver stock Corvette caps would almost match. They at least have to blend better than a chrome one. I have still yet to discover if the circular caps in those special editiion caps are replaceable or not. I believe GM would most likely make them that way so they could use them for varios models. I'm gonna go search the Corvette forum & see what I find out.

When up close in person you can see the machine marks. I'll try and get a picture today for you so you can see it. I wasn't able to get to painting a center cap this weekend so I'll get to it today.

The project is in progress. It's almost finished and actually won't be exactly how I would do the final center caps if I did do this. Here's some teasers. I'll do a more in-depth process once it's finished and I have pictures next to the wheels.

Alright, so I got comparison pictures next to the wheels. The center caps are now "duller" looking than the wheels. They need to be cleared so that they reflect like the wheels actually do. Depending on the lighting they look almost dead on. Here are the pictures.

I was wondering about all of this because having different center caps will be the deal breaking between buying the machined C5s and buying some different wheels..so the 10 spoke centers fit these wheels?

Hey, is that just a silver stock cap you got in that last pic for comparison? If so thats alot closer than the chrome for sure.
I wonder what all versions of this cap will fit? I'm thinking the Special Edition caps could work if the center is the same size as the WS6 pop in cap. If not maybe a silver set in the style that has the blank center but still has a circular indention. That could be measured & emblempros make a custom badge for it.

Last picture is the cap I painted. It needs to be scuffed with 220 grit then cleared and then 1000 or 1500 then cleared again and I think it'll be close to the machined look of the wheels.
And they're the same style cap as the 10 spoke. I haven't actually put the 10 spoke center caps in yet, but I have seen someone do it before.

Anyone know exactly what all year caps are interchangeable by chance?
Also I didnt even think about this till just now, what about a set of stock 10-spoke caps from the 35th Ann. wheels, they were machine faced with black inners. Hmmm, my mouse is on the wheel again, LOL

I've got 35th wheels as well as the OE wheels that are machined face. I tried putting my 35th center caps on the OE wheels and they did not fit. They seemed to be shaped differently.

Well that just flat out sucks *****. Thats most likely the best matching cap for these wheels too.
I'm still curious about the 2006-2009 vette caps fitting cause there was a wheel offered on those with a brushed/machined look instead of chrome. I got a couple pics save from yahoo image search of a set.
