315 Nitto 555r on 17x9.5
I am thinking of putting some 315 nitto 555r tires on my trans am with 17x9.5 zo6 wheels. My question is will they fit and will I get more traction out of them then a 275? Is there any pics of these on 9.5in wide zo6 wheels?

The 555r's run narrow. I would run a 315 555R on a 17x9 or 17x9.5 instead of a 275 555R.
Here's my old setup. 315/35/17 555R on a 17x9 WS6 wheel. I ran them around 22psi so the centers don't wear out too quickly.

Thanks I think they will look nice. So the regular 555 tires will not fit but the 555r tires will be good to go? I am looking to pull off a high 11sec 1/4 mi with my new 355 and le1 head, I will need those DR's to hook up with my stalled A4

you have yo be carful I run a nitto NT 555R street tire infront its labeled as a Nt 555R.
The drag tire is not labeled as a R it was smiply listed as Nitto NT 555 Extreme Drag
but yes the 315 nitto drag radial should be ok on a 9.5 not sure if I would drive it daily though.
I drive mine daily but its on a 11 inch rim

It's a factory 17x9 WS6 wheel.

I sure will, but it will be a a couple months before they are on the car. I am building a 355 le1 lt4 hotcam motor with a 3200 stall; I think my 275 yokahama street tires are just going to spin like crazy, so it will not be long after I install the motor and stall that I will need the DR's. I think the white TA with big 315DR's is going to look great; I will run them at 20-25psi. I can't wait to drive it with the new motor and stall; I should notice a huge difference over my hotcam only stock stall car.

Everyone always says that a 555R 315 is like a 275 on any other tire, but in ^this pic^ this sticks out away from the rim pretty noticably-much more than a standard 275.
When I finish destroying my 315 555R's I have on my 17x11's now, I am going to stack them up against 315 BFG's and 315 Sumitomo's to see how big of a difference there really is-my geuss is it's a whole lot less than people seem to think. I'm not disagreeing with or bashing anyone specifically in this thread, this is a common topic with a common answer, which is an answer I haven't seen supported a whole lot.
Does anyone have a link, article, or thread with pictures comparing 555R's to other brand 315's that I've missed? (not trying to be a dick, just honestly curious)

You can see here a BFG next to a Nitto. Both 315 drag radials on the same 17x11 ZR1 wheel but the Nitto seems almost stretched.
You can also compare what your 555Rs look like on your 17x11 vs what my Toyo TQ's look like on my 17X11.

I no longer have that setup. I changed over to a 17x11 with a 315 Toyo TQ. I needed something stickier with a better contact patch. I'm sure with the narrower tire and it bubbled on the wheel slightly it's a pretty similiar contact patch to a 275. IMO the narrow 315 bulging slightly on the wheel looks better then the stretched look of 275 on a 17x9. Especially if you're running a 275 street tire in the front and the front 275's look wider than your rears.
