Default What Tire Pressures Should I Run?

I have 17X9 Rims with Nitto NT05's front and back size 275/40/17. Yesterday I was at a light next to a 2008 mustang gt with just a catback, and in a light to light race i spun SO bad through first, even feathering the throttle, that i barely caught up and passed him by the next light in 2nd gear. I'm full boltons with 355rwhp and 366ft lbs of torque, and i do not like to even come close to losing to a stock pre-2011 GT. Since the tires had been heated up from driving all day, I pulled over and checked my pressures. All 4 of my tires were at 35psi. I lowered the backs to 31psi, but havent tried a launch yet as i headed back to college in my DD.

Is lowering the rears to 31 enough to stop spinning so much off the line? What do you think would be the ideal tire pressures for the street that I can hook well in first from a dig?

the NT05 is not a drag radial. they are soft though they are better suited for corners, hence the stiffer sidewall compared to their drag racing brothers the NT05R. I usually run my fronts at 33 and the rears depending on what im doing between 28 and 33. remember if you fill them to 28psi cold they will heat up to around 33 when hot.

So when you run 33 up front and 28-33 in the back, is that when they are hot? or is that what you fill them up at cold?

i run nitrogen in my tires so they dont heat up as much as with air. when they are fully heated up, cold=33 hot=35 in front, and cold=28 hot=30,31 in rear. I drive long distances so i need longevity for the tires.

All you need to do is fill them to what you want cold, then drive about 5 miles above 60mph and then see what psi there at then. that will let you know what psi you need to fill them cold. i found 28psi hot was pretty damn good for traction, but you will not be dead hooking on these tires.

I actually forgot to mention I run nitrogen in my tires as well. I should have thought about how the tires heating could be different because of that. Thanks for the info, i'll give 28 rear cold and 33 front cold a shot!
