I personally Like nittos because of there life expectancy!! They last awhile , great at the track and leave black *** marks on the pavement when cold lol

I love the way mickeys hook but they are horrible in the rain and don't last long

Toyo Tq 315/35/17 on 17x11 ZR1s

The hook on my MS3 3.73'd SS3600 Z/28. I've read that some people have had them last 10-17k miles depending on how many burnouts etc

Best part is I got them both for $386 shipped.

I couldn't ever get my nitto dr's to pull anything better than a 1.9x 60' at the track!

They hooked pretty damn good on the street though, at least when I had just a catback and 150 shot! Once I added the cam though.... Not so much

The Toyo TQ dr is the perfect compromise of grip and wear IMO! Much better than the Nitto 555R's. I had that on my Mustang when I sold it, and will be buying it for the Camaro when I get my 17 X 11's

Work "great?" You gotta be shitting me.. unless you were driving in a school zone all the way home. They are awful in the rain. M/t's are by far better, I currently have the nt05r and it's the worst drag radial I've owned. I'd rather have the regular 555 because at least they do some things well. The nt05r has nothing better than the competition. It does not hook as well as the m/t, it is worse than the m/t in the rain, and it's wearing very fast.. I'd be ok with this nt05r if it was lights out at the track, but it's not.. best 60ft 1.9, best with m/t at same track high 1.6s. I think I need to make a you tube video so people can see how DANGEROUS these are in the rain above maybe 40mph.

If you want a real drag radial that is going to hook get the m/t. If you want something to daily drive and hook descent get the nitto 555r. Unfortunately I have no info on the toyo, I have only heard good things though.

I've had the 555 and the toyo tq's and the toyo's seem to do everything better. Better wear, better traction (rain and dry) and better price.

In the rain once when I was on a 555 I started fishtailing for no apparent reason, I still don't know what happened. I was prolly doing 65 on the highway in moderate rain and just lost the rear end. Haven't had anything similar happen with the toyo's yet.

Considering that a standard tread depth tire (10/32) can hydroplane as slow as 35 mph. A tire originally molded with (6/32) will be vastly more prone to hydroplaning.

None... Just some 12" subs and an amp in the back!

I need a rear before I can start putting money in suspension mods

I'd like to update this thread. I've been on my Toyo Proxes TQ 315/35/18 drag radials for over 2 years now (installed them Aug 2010). They have been on my DD, with multiple highway trips, and a lot of street racing. They have close to 20k on them. I can still get some life out of them, but I want a new set before winter. When they are within the first year, they drive fine in the rain. You can go full speed on the highway with careful confidence. They started getting squirly in the 2nd year of DD'ing them, I definitely had to slow down.

I'm buying a new set for the rears this week. They seriously are an excellent "street" tire.
