Project 69SS Wheels....

Re: Project 69SS Wheels....
Tom, I'd like to see several photos of your SS. Got any good shots of the car, engine compartment, etc?
I'd like to lower it 2" at least. Probably chop the front springs for now, and use blocks in the rear. I plan on doing all the suspension upgrades later however. Right now it needs brakes and wheels.

Re: Project 69SS Wheels....
Tony, I hope to have some photos on the site in the next 2 weeks. I will be out of town until the 17th.
I used the Wilwood 11.5" (I think) kit in the front and rear. We also got the drilled/slotted rotor option. I went with these instead of the big 6 piston kit in the front because I plan on running the 15" skinnies/slicks at the track.
Check out the red GTO cover car of the current PHR. I am running the same wheel/tire/brake setup as him.

Re: Project 69SS Wheels....
You should get a set of rims from INTRO customs rims, they make a couple that look exactly like the HRE 545's if ya catch my drift(i think that's the model), (the 5 spoke and six spoke ones with the ARP studs screwed in the outer lip, and they are half the price of HRE's, and i'm working on them to get a smoking deal on sets, for 17's in any width and backspacing, we are looking around 1,400 or so a set. I'm ordering mine soon, as soon as i get a deal, and the cool thing, is that they are fully polished, inside and out, not just the face.

I'm looking for a performance-oriented wheel, not really a "fancy, pretty" looking wheel. HREs are awesome wheels, but don't really look like they mean business. They look more showcar, less "performance" IMHO. The Bogarts are actual road-racing wheels, but look nice also. They are also very light.

The RR10s just don't jive with the 60s look. Those five-spokes look alot better imo. Some FM5s would be killer.

Of the options given, the RT's look best to me... I guess it's the cleaner design that I like. HRE's do look "show car" v. "serious car". You're on the right track, IMO.
