Default fitment issues with thick spoke c5 rims

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased a set of wheels and tires that were taken off of a 99 vette. I tried putting them on my car(94 z) today and ran into problems. The fronts fit beautifully but the rears wouldnt go. I first tried the 18x9.5 ones and they interfered with the bump stop. It looked like it would fit if the car was put on jack stands and the wheels were put on that way. by they way all this work was dont with the car on a lift. So then i figured id try the 17s to see if maybe it would just be easier to put 17s all around and the center of the rim would not fit around the hub.

Any ways i was wondering what you guys did to get ur wheels to fit ur car

Thanks

Using stock corvette tires? Perhaps they are too tall?

I think stock tires are 285/40/18(?)

I am running a 285/35/18 and the only prob. I have are rubbing issues with the inner fender well. (that I hammered and re-seal--fine now)
