99 Camaro SS 315/35/17 ?
Hello,
I just purchased my SS a few months ago and I was thinking of going to chrome ZR1 wheels with 315'S on the back.I have been reading on here about having to roll the fenders and other things and it seems some people have no problems and dont have to modify anything and just bolt them on???
Will the ZR1's usually work without rubbing?I really dont want to have to modify anything to get them to not rub.
I also read they are heavier,so is there a performance difference in a straight line?
does anyone have them on the front as well?
I had more questions I cant seem to remember right now,I know there are other posts of camaro's with 315's but I would love to see more if you guys didnt mind!!!! Thanks everyone.Jen

My car is lowered (26 1/2 from wheel arch to ground) so I had rubbing on the inner fenders. Tried a poly/poly PHB but that didn't help so I went to a rod/rod adjust. bar. I also rolled my fenders, but its been so long now I forget if my tires rubbed the fenders or not. They may have with the stock PHB and maybe the poly/poly (poly deflects) bar. The rod/rod bar helps quite a bit and its seems to be quiet. Being that my ZR1s are 50mm offset they are inset from the fender a little. I wanted to move them out some, so I bought some 3/8" spacers (and new wheel studs) and now they look much better. And again, with the rod/rod bar I don't get any rubbing at all. Hope this helps.
Edit:lowered cars have more rubbing issues then non-lowered cars.

i have zr1's with 315, if its lowered THEY WILL RUB AND TEAR INTO THE TIRE, u might have to do the bumpstop mod,
but if its stock height, they ride great. If you carrying 3 passengers, they might rub when u hit a bump going 65 lol

CHROME zr1's weight about 20 lbs, I personally think non-chrome zr'1 look sickkkk, but thats jus my opinion

Very nice!!Thank You as well.I keep going back and forth on a decision. My other concern is loss in acceleration....I know someone on here said they could tell a difference. How about yourself?
what kind of tires are those on the rear? Thanks again!

all cars are different concerning how much you have to grind/hammper etc. Did a whole lot of modifying to get my 335's in my camaro vs how much my buddy had to do to make the same size tire fit in his 02 ws6. both cars are lowered.

They bolted up pretty well on my car with no modifications... for safety I should roll the fenders and modify the bumpstops, but it doesn't seem to be that big of a problem.
I took the rear wheels off today and noticed they have been rubbing a tiny bit inside the wheel well, but just barely. All in all, not too difficult to fit 315s on my Camaro.
I'm also lowered about an inch and on the stock panhard bar.

S60 with hose mod mod .... cut off the bump stops completely and bfh mod until I could fit a full finger completely between the inner tire and inner well.
It is posted that you have to fit these on with the suspension loaded to clear the bump stops (bump stops sit inside wheel). It just didn't appear too safe to me. Since I have a Spohn drag bar and no room to place jack stands under the rear, I wanted to be able to remove the wheels with the car jacked by my sfc's. It is easier to switch to a drag wheel/slick setup. I will also be running 28" tall slicks so I will be rolling the fenders later.

When comparing the chrome ZR1 weights to the stock 10-spokes, the differences are negligible. I added weight by going to an S60 compared to the stock 10-bolt and a Spohn drag bar compared to the stock sway bar, but what better place is there to add weight than over the rear end. The strength of the S60 allows me to put the most power down without breaking even though there is a power loss over the stock 10-bolt. At over 590 bhp, I notice little in performance loss. I am confident that the launches on slicks will out way the small loss in power. The traction difference of the 315's over 275's that were down to the wear bars is already huge.
