Default 26's vs 28's on a 16in wheel, need help

Until I can afford a set of 15" welds for the rear of my car, Im going to try and use the 16x7.5" steel wheels off a '99 6cyl stripper camaro I have for a set of slicks to use at the track, by the time I smoke this set of slicks, ill probably be ready to buy wheels, so this is only temporary. Been looking at the Hoosier QTP's in the 28x10 16 and 26x9.50 16. they recommend at least an 8" wheel for the 28's, think this will be a big enough problem that should sway me to the 26's? Im affraid of running out of gear on the 26's though, but would probably run like a bat out of hell on motor. Car is full weight, M6, 420hp on motor, about 580hp on the nitrous, MWC rearend with spooled 4.11's, lowered on a prokit. I put this in the drag race tech section but responses were a bit slow. Any thoughts? How will each of these fit in the car? Anybody have any pics?
