Default How To Paint Wheels

So i want all black c5 z06 rims. however they do not make them any more
so instead i will be buying the black with machined lip c5 z06 17x9.5s from OE Wheels.

my question is....how do i paint the lip?
what kind of prepping, paint, tool, tips, etc.

You could always find a set of Z06's in any color, including polished, and then get the entire wheel powdercoated black. This will be a lot more durable then paint. Typically costs $75 per wheel.

I have used the dupli color shadow paint..... I simply cleaned my chrome z06 wheels with soap and water...wiped them dry..and sprayed them...they came out nice for $16

The first 18's I painted I sanded which was stupid because it made the finished product dull...the other two were already painted white, with those all I did was lay down a light coat of primer and the black and they came out much shinier....clean them off w/ some alcohol or even soap and water, primer, then the black and you'll be all set. The best part about it is if they ever chip all you have to do is hit them w/ the can

i did scratch mine up with a green scotch brite pad first. ive become a big fan of the epoxy for appliances spray (home depot) as it has good scratch resistance, can withstand higher temps, and does not need a clear. though it took a couple years for the shine to fade so next time i paint them i will use clear so i can shine them back up...

Plasti-dip....I would have gone that route, because they look good and you could just peel off the coating later on and keep your chrome!

I did plasti dip :/ keep bubbling and peeling and for me here in germ plasti dip is so expensive it's 11 euro a can, and it's only it the united kingdom . So when I ordered 4 cans my total was 98 bucks ;( way too much!! All I have on base is krylon rattlecan paint. Also my chrome is rusted now and scratched and was peeling . So the black look, is way better for me. But how many cans u think I would need to paint all 4 of my wheels?? Sorry to hi jack the thread :3)

Just smooth out the curb rash with bondo glazing spot putty.
I just painted mine with rustoleum bar-b-q paint (high heat). BTW you'll want to sand if you want it to stick
