No he's got it right, 5.5" b.s. 7.5" stock width minus 2" = 5.5".
What kind of car do you have? If it's an f'body, i've heard some say they can fit the m/t 295/55/15 tire without touching the inner fender and others say they had to hit it a few times with a bfh. If it's a t/a, you can do a 325/50 with some inner fender mods and a LOT of bfh'ing for a camaro.
