Default Nitto 555 tires good?

I need new tires and was reading about nitto tires. I want a good amount of traction on the street and the track. My cars soon to be specs: 17" rims with 275 tires, headers, cai, borla catback, cutout, 3400 stall, cc503 cam with 1.6 rr.

Will these tires hold the power decently?

Thanks!

It's an lt1 they don't make enuf power to spin the tires anyways....j/k, with a 3400 stall you might want to look at the nitto 555r's. They are the softer version like I have. I cut a best of 1.78 60ft wich isn't great, but it's ok. I also have 3400 stall btw

I have a bolt on stalled A4 with nitto 555r's and the best I can cut is a 1.70 60 ft without spinning. So I would think that they can hold quite a bite of power. But like z99ls1 said I would def. go with the 555r and not just the 555's

How are these on the street? I've got ET Street Radials on stock rims just for track use. I'm looking for two tires to throw on the rear of my street rims that I wouldn't be afraid to get caught in the rain with.

I have 305/35/18 Nitto 555R's and they hold fine in the rain. Of course they're new so that has something to do with it.

I have them on my '77 Camaro and on my wife's Passat. Good in the rain and handle well. I haven't put a lot of miles on the Camaro, but, after around 20k miles on my wife's Passat, they have become very noisy. They weren't that way when new. Overall, I think they are a good tire.

Mine do great in the rain. They hook good for a street tire, just dont expect them to be drag radials.

I think they are great on the street. They are quiet, do good in the rain, and hook pretty decent. If I had a 315 I bet they would dead hook

Think I might pick up two to toss on the rear for the street, since I only put on 6k a year should last awhile.

The regular 555 tire is a good street tire (relative to other street tires). From a traction perspective, it isn't going to perform nearly as well as a decent drag radial (the 555R, etc).

I use the 555 on the fronts and the 555R (or 555R II for road courses) on the rear and I'm quite happy with them.

X2!!

I love mine, and on my car they DO dead hook, thanks to my A4 and 2.73's. Sometimes when I WANT to spin them I can't!

My first run at the track with them I knocked off a little over .1 off my et.

I have 555rs 315s on my rear and i have a different view, i was cruising on the interstate in bad rain at about 55 t0 sixty and my car was wanting to slide all over the place and I wasnt even under throttle. My tires were pretty new as well but they seem to hydroplane pretty bad. Howerver on a plain wet road with no major puddles it does just fine.

I love the 555's for the street, I've gone down the track on them also which wasn't horrible, depending on what my right foot did haha. I really want some of the 555 DR's for the rear

Great street tire. My friend had good success with the standards on the rear in bolt on form but keep in mind past probably 12.5 1/4 mile range your going to want a DR if you expect consistent hooking at the track or want it to plant on the street.

I run the standard triple nickles up front and the Rs out back. 1.61 60fts with consistent 1.61-1.63s run after run on stock saggy IRS GTO suspension, too narrow for them stock 8" wheels, and a 4,300 stall converter on a big cam mid-high 11 second car.

Heres a video when I was bolt-ons (12.28 1/4) hooking them in street digs.

As far as the people that say "they suck!", is usually the Indian, not the Arrow if you know what I mean. That or they expect their 10 second or low 11 car to dead hook on the street on them in 275 form or some ridiculous expectation.
