What Size Rims For A 2002 Trans Am
I just bought a 2002 Trans Am.
I would like to update the rims with a full suspension upgrade in mind (Sub-frame connectors, torque arm, tunnel brace, control arms, k-member, springs, shocks, lower control arms, sway bars, panhard rod the whole bit).
Most suspensions I read about have a 1inch drop.
What size rim and tire size will work best with that kind of drop?
Also keep in mind that I intend on increasing the stock hp to 485hp & 465tq (1yr down the road).
I've searched a lot of threads and sites and I can't seem to find a clear answer.
Please help, I'm a LS1 Trans Am newbie. Thanks!

17's to 19's look good on these cars and typically is the average size. Not sure on the tire size but make sure it matches the rim, which matches the car. Offset ~38mm I believe?

That's a vague posting.. do you plan on racing it? Or for it to be a daily driven car? Do you like bigger wheels? How much is your budget?
I have had 5 different sets..and still can't make up my mind...

I wouldn't go bigger than 18", the ride starts to get rough once you get that big. Personally I think 17"s give the best balance of looks, ride, and performance on 4th gens.
What ever you do, keep the overall tire diameter the same all the way round and close to stock or you will have speedo and abs problems.

I would like it to be some where close to super street and be able to take it to VIR for some light laps and still keep the car a daily driver. I'm not trying to break the car or turn it into a race car.
I am more interested in performance that I am aesthetics and I don't want to go bigger than 18s (not enough side wall). If 18s are do able, are things like wheel spacers required and what does 38mm offset mean?
I don't want to go wider than 10''s and I don't want the staggered look.
If 17''s are the best option, then I will go with that, but again, are wheel spacers needed for 10'' wide tires and is the offset required?
My budget is no more that $225.00 per rim.
Thanks for all of your input.

corvette wheels
I have had several corvette wheels on several 4th gen camaro firebirds I personally like my c5 pollished w/o spacers the fronts stay 245 45 zr 17 and the rears are stock off the vette 275 40 zr 18 they rubbed a tiny bit when a passenger sat in the back so i made a slight adj. to 265 35 zr 18 real nice no rubbing no abs issues really the best choice of all the many different set up ive ran.

I'm going with Nitto drag radials when my Yokohama rubber burns out, and I've had my eye on these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=111298857622
