Default Is this tire size an issue?

I am a total newb when it comes to tires. I had 275/40R17 on my stock ss 10 spokes which are 9 inches wide i believe. Sold them and ordered c5 deep dish wheels from oewheels. I got 17x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 rears. They recommended 265/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rears. Is this essentially going to a smaller tire up front, but a wider rim? I'm confused. Does anyone out there have a picture of this size setup? Trying to see if I just made a huge mistake, but they were the ones that recommended those sizes and it just seems odd to go to a wider wheel but a smaller tire. Thanks. Any pics either?

edit. FWIW I bought the car with 275's up front, so I am not even sure if thats factory. Thanks.

275/40/17 up front and 295/35/18 out back. unless you can find a 305 for the rear. no reason to have a 265 up front. though some tires are wider than others. but stick with what i said and you wont have any issues.

You can still run a 275 up front that's what most people run with that size rim. You can also run a 315 in the back if want want a wider tire

a 315 on a 18" wheel might have some clearance issues. not to mention the tire price starts in the mid $300 range and have nothing much more than a 200 treadwear rating.

I understand that other sizes will fit.. but im asking if the sizes I've mentioned would look retarted. That's what oewheels "recommended" and it just seemed odd. I don't want the rims sticking out past the tires. Anyone have pics of 295's or 265's?

275s will look perfect on that size wheel. Many many people on here are running that size tire on that size wheel.

I know 275's will fit best. Trying to figure out why oewheels recommended and sent me 265's.

Who knows, maybe you should call them. I would think a 265 may look a little stretched on a 9.5" rim. My 275s look perfect on my 9.5" wide rims

I will call them tomorrow. The downfall on this is that they already sent out my wheels/tires.

Does anyone know there return policy? Up to and including shipping? From what I've gathered I will not be happy with 265s and have no idea why Leo at oewheels recommended them.

Really? The difference in width is 10mm - about the width of your pinky finger. Unless you lay them down on the ground next to the same brand 275 with a level across them, I seriously doubt you or anyone else will notice the difference

I honestly don't know anything about tires but im trying to learn... I don't see why id go with a narrower tire than I had before but with a wider rim. Doesn't that seem silly?

You'll be fine w 265's, 255's would work as well - 275/40 17 is an extremely popular size so thats why you see them more often

Ok. Seems like you know what you're talking about. I don't want it to look like the rims are sticking way out further than the tires... can't find any pics of 265 on a 9.5" rim. Been looking a while now.

That setup mirrors the stock C5 Z06 factory wheel and tire sizes.

You'll look fine. I have 275's up front because that's stock for the ss and ws6 so it was easier to get tires. The reason they reccomend those sizes is so that your wheel speed sensors won't freak out. Even though they are not the stock size tires the overall diameter of the tires are extremely close. Thus, they are the same size, but not really. You get what I'm saying? If you stray too far from stock overall diameter your dash will light up like a Christmas tree with abs and traction control lights. Hope that helps clear up why they suggested the weird size.

I also have your same rim set up. 17x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 in the back. I spent weeks crunching numbers trying to figure out a tire combo that wouldn't trip the sensors.

Don't the z06's have an 8.5" front wheel?

Thanks for the info metalmilitia, appreciated.
