Angry nitto dr's blow!!!!

So I got my 315 nitto dr's on today and went to go try them out. Im so damn pissed because I just took of 275 nitto dr's that hooked just as good. So I go out on a nice black top and warm them up a little and rev it to 2400 rpms and about 70% throtle blows through the tires all the way through first gear. My 275's felt just as good and needless to say im completely dissapointed in these tires. I thought they would hook a little bit. BUT NOPE. I am now a beleiver that 555r's just SUCK

how many miles are on them? because i highly doubt a company such as nitto would sell tires that didnt hook..

a buddy of mine has the same tires- size and all, and they do great..

nitto 315's are narrow anyways for a supposedly 11in tire. What'd expect, miracles?

555R DRs are not the stickiest tires out there. I wouldn't expect miracles out of them.

How much pressure was in the tires? Also they do tend to hook better as they wear a little more

I have some that I haven't tried. How do you break them in correctly Crusty Pirate.
They mounted on a 18x10.5 wheel.

I almost swear my 275's hooked at the very least just as good. I think the 275's hooked better. I couldn't beleive how long they spun. I should not be able to go like 60-70% throttle and smoke them. I am not impressed at all. I spend $400 on a tire that last 10k miles I want it to hook a little bit. I didn't even launch it that hard and they still went up in smoke. It's just frustrating when You spend that much money and something wont hook

No but they can hook although not as good as some MTs but the 555 is not as wide either.

So you went from 275's to 315's, both in nitto 555 dr's? On the same size wheel?

The 555's do kinda blow! lol !! I'v had two sets of them.I keep getting them because I know they will hook but not completely, which saves my rear end a little long. But if im ever able to afford a 12 bolt , MTs here I come!

O and BTW you think they do bad on the street wait till you hit the track. You'll think you are ice skating

I cut a 1.78 60ft on my 275 nitto 555r's with good track prep. I just wish I wouldn't have spent the extra money on the 315's. Especially since my 275's had some life left in them. I will get 275's next time im in need of tires.

I wonder if all of this has to do with the fact that you're running them on a 9.5" wheel?

Nope they fit great. All the tire is on the ground. I really had to rant cuz I was so pissed about spending $400 and still not getting traction. When really alot of it has to do with me lowering the back of my car a cuple weeks ago. Tommarow im going to look for a good thick rubber hose to put on the top of my springs to raise the rear up a little bit.

nittols love low tire pressure and you really got to heat them up, a long second gear burnout helps. my 315s are like night and day depending on how good of a burnout I do.

but your really not going to see a big performance gain over 275 and 315 of the same exact tire.

Yea this was my mistake I think^^^. I was expecting way to much going from a 275 to a 315. I still can't beleive they didn't do any better than they did though. Thanks for the tips on heating them up. If I ever get in a real race where I need them to hook I will make sure to do a long burnout and get them nice and warm. I was just doing a little 3 sec spin to get all the **** off them today. No more burning tires for me unless im going to race somebody. I can't afford to keep putting dr's on this thing lol.

Wait are you talking about the 555R or the NT05R? Because I've had both & the 555R are POS compared to the NT05R. I HIGHLY recommend you try them out if you haven't already!

1) They need to be heat cycled and broken in properly
2) brand new drag radials need some time, mine didn't hook for **** until I had a few good burnouts on them, got better and better and better
3) 315 need to be ran at a lower pressure than the 275 to get the same end results (example: if you had best luck with 18# on 275, try starting at 16# on 315)
4) The difference in size is not going to be extremely noticeable

I ran 275/50r15 Nitto 555R last year, best 60ft was 1.785 and this year I am running a 325/50r15 M/T ET street radial and the best 60ft is 1.77 (but at a lower tire pressure).

Either I got some BAD M/T or they do not live up to the hype.
