Default Stripped my stud bolt

Well today i was working on the car and i went to put the tire back on and wasn't paying attention and stripped a stub bolt! Is this something i can fix or would it be easier to take it to a tire shop?

Knock it out with a big hammer, get a new stud at Autozone and reinstall it.

Depending on whether its the front or the back, you might want to detach the spindle/axle before pounding on it..you might bend something or bind a gear or something...be careful...i've never removed a spindle before but an axle is pretty simple...just make sure you know how to put your differential back together

I don't know I did a drivers side rear without taking the axle out. Just pounded it out there is an area in the backing plate that lets it out. You may have a problem because the new one was hard to get in because of the length mine was snapped off so it was easy to get out. Then just use a nut and a few big washers and pull it in... Kinda ghetto but it worked and I didn't have to take my rear end cover off!

it's the back drivers side. there's a plate behind the rotor. does the whole brake assembly need to come off? or just take the bolts out of the plate and try to bend it out?

You have to take the caliper and rotor off at least I did, there is room on the plate behind if you look you probably need both tires in the air so you can spin it. And honestly you need to cut it a bit to get it out, it has to go out at an angle and stock length I bet it is too long. Also taking the axle out isn't that hard and that is the proper way to change it...

I just changed mine. If you replace it with stock length, then just pound it out with a hammer. You will need to take the disc off and probably the e-brake (I did). Very easy.
